We try to stimulate ideas and creativity among learners as we coax them to think of possible ideas to save our earth when building future cities. Students were specifically advised to use recyclables to avoid wastage and cling on to reusing, reducing and recycling as the golden rule.
We see them complete their tasks with used cardboards, toys, papers and ice cream sticks. It was an experience to witness their conscious effort to stick to rules set at the onset which include sustainability, green energy, minimal or zero pollution and any other innovation that would help the earth.
Students can create parks, malls, public transport, hospitals and even shopping malls. The main context is to preserve the earth.
Their creations featured in electric car stations, windmills, solar panels, rain water harvesting device, magnetic levitation and even formation of kinetic energy as a result of human footsteps. It was truly refreshing to see students explore ideas based on the criteria given. After all, learning should allow inventions and possibilities.
The competition was divided among students based on KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4 levels and the ideas are captured on their maturity and exposure. Truly, we were in two minds when deciding on the winning teams. Having said that, the winner still has to emerge. We will decide soon.
Meanwhile, kudos to all who have participated and every hand had helped in the success of the competition.
