2021 brings hope to us. We pray for an easy journey even with a pandemic on. We sought solutions to challenges. How do we transmit knowledge? Virtual or physical?
We began with the virtual approach, practical and neat to keep ourselves away from the threat of the virus. Teachers greet and meet their protegee via the screen. The new norm sank in. It was good while it lasted.
However, parents pleaded for the face to face approach as some had eyesight issues with so many screen hours. Others could not handle the ill discipline and inattention from home. They cried for help.
We had a leeway when we received news that physical learning despite the pandemic was allowed by authorities.
We let nothing stop us from having them back. We cleaned, sanitised and scrubbed to greet the students with open arms longing to be with them again. No social being can survive long without interaction. We need one another.
But alas, the odds were too strong and we could not handle the onslaught of the pandemic. We had to give in to curb possible spread and danger.
So we had to spread out. The crucial year 11 students are asked to be back for physical learning while the rest will learn online.
Learning will be on! Whether in school or at home, we promise. So today, it was with much pleasure that we receive our senior students back in classrooms while the younger ones stay home for virtual learning.
Let us retain this approach till the pandemic is under better control and we can once again meet with greater confidence.
We look forward to that day.
